Two tourism businesses in a north Northumberland seaside village won gold at the country’s top tourism awards last night.

Seafield Caravan Park (Holiday Park/Village of the Year) and St Cuthbert’s House bed and breakfast (Guest Accommodation), in Seahouses, both won gold in the prestigious Visit England Awards for Excellence 2014 at yesterday’s ceremony at Cheltenham Racecourse.

It means that the village is home to the best holiday park and best bed and breakfast in the country this year.

Reacting to the news on Twitter, @stcuthbertshouse said: “So, TWO businesses from a tiny village in the Middle of NOWHERE win GOLD as the BEST in the whole of England then”

Leaplish Waterside Park, at Kielder, was also one of the finalist in the Holiday Park of the Year category and went home with a bronze award.
