An Alnwick café has recently reopened under new ownership with a new name and an expansion of the venue’s previous Italian ethos.

Connor Graham and Angela Walker opened the doors of Dolcella, in the building formerly occupied by Prima Deli in the Market Place, on Wednesday last week.

The name roughly translates from Italian as little sweet treats and that sums up part of Dolcella’s offer.

It sells Italian cakes and patisserie items from a local supplier as well as ice-cream from Amble’s award-winning Spurreli.

But it also serves breakfast, coffee, appetisers, antipasti and panini as well as alcoholic drinks.

One of the main reasons they were drawn to the café was its location and outdoor seating on the square, which they hope will help attract people who want to enjoy an alfresco glass of prosecco, beer or bite to eat – bringing a little café culture to Alnwick.
