A teenage entrepreneur has expanded her business, just a year after it opened.
Becca Allan, 19, set up Bex Hair and Beauty on Bailiffgate, Alnwick, in October last year, running the business single-handed.
Now she has a team of six members of staff, as well as a new beauty section.
Apprentice hairdresser Hannah Bell has been working with Becca for the last few months. She has also taken on Saturday girl Amy Robinson, nail technician Nicola Simmons and beauty therapist Karen Cairns.
Becca’s mum Carolyn Coxford also helps out with various jobs.
The business is still looking for another hairdresser and part-time beauty therapist.
Becca said: “The last year has been amazing.
“The business has gone from strength-to-strength.
“We’ve been involved in so much in the last year, including sponsoring Miss Newcastle, taking part in fashions shows and loads more.
“I won the Fund-raiser of the Year Award at the Best of Northumberland Awards and we’ve had great feedback from customers about the business.
“We’ve gone from having just me doing hair to having a full team of people doing everything and we’re on the look out for even more.
“I couldn’t have done it without the support of my friends and family and of course my customers.”
Last Thursday saw a special launch party of the new beauty section of the salon with a joint celebration for Bex Hair and Beauty’s first birthday.
The Art House organised cocktails on the night with a Bextacular drink created specially for the launch.
Becca set up the salon following training to be a hairdresser after leaving the Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick.
