Hotel takes title for service on couples’ big day

An Alnwick hotel has been voted the best wedding venue for customer service in the North East.

The White Swan, on Bondgate Within, was given the accolade at the North of England Wedding Awards.

Announced at a glittering gala dinner at York Racecourse, the awards are designed to recognise those businesses that provide outstanding customer service and go the extra mile for their customers.

Hundreds of companies entered the awards, with the votes of their own customers deciding whether they would be shortlisted as finalists in 18 categories.

Categories included most outstanding customer service offered by a wedding venue, wedding florist and wedding caterer.

The North of England Wedding Awards judges then analysed customer comments before deciding the overall winners in each category, with the winners all receiving an inscribed trophy.

General manager of the White Swan, James Thompson, said: “Weddings are a huge part of what we try to achieve for our customers. It is such an important day for any couple that we try to create the perfect day for all of our brides and grooms.

“Good customer service starts from the first inquiry and doesn’t finish even after the wedding has happened, we like to make sure each couple has really enjoyed every aspect of their day. We look forward to welcoming brides and grooms to the White Swan in future.”

Liz and Tim Clark, publishers of the Wedding Guide for Yorkshire and North East England, said with over 30,400 marriages across Yorkshire and the North East and an average spend of between £14,000 and £21,500 on their big day, that despite times being hard, couples still want to have the biggest and best day of their lives.

They added: “Brides and grooms are looking for something special, for the company that goes the extra mile to help deliver a truly amazing wedding day. The finalists in all the award categories are testament to this, and all have displayed examples of excellent customer service and commitment to their weddings.”
