Chance to find out more about monitor farms

An open day is being held at Ancroft in Northumberland next Wednesday to explain the role of monitor farms.

It will take place at Ancroft Village Hall, starting at 10am.

The open day is being billed as an opportunity for farmers and the wider agricultural industry to find out more about monitor farms, an initiative intended to offer examples of how best to improve profitability and productivity.

Farm budgets, bean agronomy, soil health, cover crops, machinery and labour costings will be up for discussion.

A free lunch will also be on offer.

To arrange attendance, email harry.henderson@

Soil biology expert Liz Stockdale, of Newcastle University, will be among the speakers.
