Cash boost for touring theatre makes apprentice job

The Sylvia Waddilove Foundation has provided funding for an acting trainee for Northumberland Theatre Company’s (NTC) autumn production.

And NTC wants local actors and actresses to apply for the position, which will be working with A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

This opportunity will enable one performer to join the cast, learning and developing their craft ‘on the job’, working alongside experienced professionals.

There will also be the opportunity for additional skills training and support towards furthering their future carer.

It offers a training bursary of £150 per week, accommodation in Alnwick during rehearsals and accommodation on tour.

The production could be one of the company’s last as it was turned down for funding by the Arts Council on three separate occasions.

To apply for the apprenticeship, you must be over 18 and be resident or have trained in the northern region within the last three years.

The position starts on August 9 through to November 3 and auditions will take place in Alnwick in the week beginning July 16.

If you are interested send a photo, CV and letter of application outlining your skills and experience and demonstrating how this opportunity will make a difference to your career and development as a performer by July 7.

Send it to Gillian Hambleton, Artistic Director, NTC, The Playhouse, Bondgate Without, Alnwick, Northumberland.
