Former schoolmates are together again

There’s just no getting away from each other for two former classmates from north Northumberland, who work for the same company.

Charlotte Rogerson, from Alwinton, and Rob Thompson, from Denwick, both attended Morpeth’s King Edward VI School and found themselves in the same class.

When they left the school they both went on to study degrees in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at the renowned Harper Adams University in Shropshire.

And now each of them has landed their dream job — with the same Northumberland business.

Neither knew the other was applying for a job at Alnwick-based George F White Chartered Surveyors, but they have been reunited after 24-year-old Ms Rogerson was appointed a rural practice surveyor and Mr Thompson, 23, landed a job as a rural business consultant.

Ms Rogerson, who grew up on the family farm at Biddlestone Edge, has always wanted a career based in the country.

After graduating she joined Buccleuch Estates as a land agent, learning the ropes on an 86,000-acre estate.

She passed the rigorous Assessment of Professional Competence to gain membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and is now looking forward to settling into her new position.

Mr Thompson is originally from Broxfield Farm in Denwick and is delighted to be back on familiar soil.

He is working towards RICS membership, taking on duties across the business, such as farm cash-flow planning, applying for grants on behalf of agricultural businesses and appraising rural enterprises.

Managing partner Hugh Fell said: “Charlotte and Rob are typical of the young talent we take on at George F White — highly-qualified, bright, switched-on and personable. What’s more, they’ve both been born and brought up in the Northumberland countryside so know the area and its people well.”
