An Alnwick-based beauty salon is in the running to win a pair of top industry awards – 12 months after its owner was crowned the best in the land.
Enhance Beauty Rooms, on Bondgate Without, has been named as a finalist in two categories of the English Hair and Beauty Awards 2014.
The studio has been shortlisted in the North East Beauty Salon of the Year section, as well as for Fake Bake Salon of the Year – against parlours from the likes of London and Manchester.
It comes on the back of the studio’s manager, Jane Williams, beating other professionals from around the country to be named Fake Bake Therapist of the Year at the 2013 awards.
And the 29-year-old, who turns 30 on Sunday, is delighted to be in contention again.
“I am over the moon,” she said. “It is nice to be recognised and it is good for your morale.
“What is really pleasing is that we were nominated by our customers. They had to write testimonials about the salon experience, the customer service and the treatments.”
Jane, who is helped by colleague Courtney Dunn, added: “It is nice to have Courtney involved in the awards.
“We are a team and these awards are about the salon experience.”
In the North East category, Enhance is up against Sirens, in Durham, Newcastle Hair & Beauty and city-based Beautonic Beauty Salon, Bella Beauty, in Sunderland, and Grace & Elegance, of Middlesbrough.
The other finalists in Fake Bake Salon of the Year are London’s Anesis Salon and Spa, Miss Independent, in Middlesbrough, Wigs and Warpaint, in Sheffield, Reading-based Foresters Beauty Salon and Manchester’s Hollywood Tanning and Beauty.
The Enhance girls will learn their fate at a glittering ceremony at Manchester’s Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on March 30.
