A north Northumberland cottage company has recently built five brand-new luxury self-catering holiday cottages at a cost of over £600,000.

Breamish Valley Cottages, in Branton, created the new properties to offer tourists a wider range of luxury accommodation in the region.

Peter Moralee, proprietor of Breamish Valley Cottages, said: “It’s been a tough year for the holiday cottage industry.

“The bad weather and the struggling economy have meant that fewer people have holidayed in 2012.

“However, we believe this will change and have built five new holiday cottages to provide visitors to Northumberland with somewhere spacious, luxurious and comfortable to stay.”

“Holidaymakers’ needs are evolving. Flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, space and luxury are a must.

“All of our new cottages have all the latest mod cons, wood-burning stoves, fully-equipped kitchens, plenty of bathrooms and great care has been taken when choosing the furniture and furnishings.”

To launch the new cottages, Breamish Valley Cottages is offering new customers a 20 per cent discount on all stays until Friday, December 28.

If you have friends and family visiting over Christmas, or if you fancy a few nights away, you can take advantage of this discount by callling 01665 578263 and quoting Gazette.

Breamish Valley Cottages is situated in the hamlet of Branton at the mouth of the valley below Ingram.

It’s the ideal location for walking enthusiasts with the Cheviot Hills right on the doorstep.

There is a games room, tennis court, putting green, adventure playground, trampoline and indoor leisure complex, which includes a heated swimming pool, gym, sauna, spa, steam room and treatment room.

Peter and Michele Moralee bought the business, which now has 14 holiday cottages, in 1993.
