A GROUP of bowlers took part in an indoor competition with the residents of an Alnwick care home.

Those living at Abbeyfield welcomed the Alnwick Outdoor Bowling Club for the game which had one stipulation - that all taking part must bowl while seated in a chair.

The event was organised by Abbeyfield executive member and bowler George Stokoe.

Alnwick bowlers were Dorothy and Ray Topping and George and Lilian Stokoe, alongside past president David Wilkinson and Margaret Wilkinson.

Two of the residents were outdoor bowlers. Percy Dunn was from Wooler Bowling Club and represented her club and county at the English National Championships while May Parker was a member of Morpeth Bowling Club.
