A WORLD-FAMOUS north Northumberland tourist attraction has teamed up with an international bulb specialist to develop an exclusive breed of daffodil.
The Alnwick Garden has joined forces with Peter Nyssen to create Alnwick Magic, which has been named after the town venue.
This one-of-a-kind flower blooms a unique mix of ivory white petals with an amber-orange centre mixed with buttermilk white.
Just 700 of these distinctive daffodils will be produced this year and will be introduced to garden enthusiasts on Friday, March 9, during a sneak preview in the Garden’s Pavilion Room.
The Dutch grower behind the bulb, Arno Kroon, will deliver an exclusive talk on the development of the Alnwick Magic daffodil and guests on the evening will have the chance to pre-order the first editions of this special flower.
Alnwick Magic will be officially launched at the Daffodil Festival at the Garden, with runs from Friday, April 6, to Sunday, April 15, allowing visitors to experience the rare flower in full bloom.
During the event, guests will also be invited to discover and buy a variety of new daffodil breeds, which will be showcased for the first time over the Easter week.
The Alnwick Magic talk on March 9 will be free and starts at 7pm.
