There will be no change to bin collection days in Northumberland over the Christmas and New Year period.
Collections will take place up to Christmas Eve, resume from Monday, December 28, to Thursday, December 31, and continue to take place as normal from Monday, January 4.
Coun Ian Swithenbank, cabinet member for local services at Northumberland County Council, said: “We carry out all regular household bin collections in Northumberland from Monday to Thursday each week throughout the year, so when Christmas and New Year’s days fall on a Friday we can continue collecting as normal.
“Ice and snow can disrupt the service however, and I would suggest that residents make sure that they are signed up to our alerts channels – and check there for details if their collections are affected by bad weather.”

Residents can also take excess items to household waste recovery centres across Northumberland, open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, from 8am to 6pm.
