The recently-elected MP for Berwick, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, has been appointed a vice-chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Forestry.

The group’s purpose is to address all aspects of forestry, from forest production to end use, pulp and paper making, wood and timber product and wood for energy generation.

Mrs Trevelyan said: “I am keen to work with ministers from Defra and DECC, alongside schools and charities such as The Woodland Trust, to increase the ability for substantially more tree-planting in the years ahead. I also want to work to increase understanding of the importance of woodland management for carbon capture and storage, as well as wildlife and economic benefits.”

Anyone who is involved in forestry, has a special interest or is seeking to create new plantations should contact Mrs Trevelyan via annemarie.trevelyan.mp@parliament.uk or 020 7219 4437.

Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who is a qualified chartered accountant, has also been elected, unopposed, to the Public Accounts Select Committee.
