BOXING CLEVER: Members of Belford Mothers’ Union have again raised funds and filled shoeboxes to send to troops in Afghanistan.

Branch leader Sylvia Hickey said: “It’s all too easy to forget the privations suffered by our troops who miss the little luxuries that we can bring them.

“And, as we all know, just after Christmas can be a particularly stressful time. On this occasion, we’re indebted to Superdrug who has supported the project financially and with their valuable assistance. And Belford Post Office has been very patient with us.”

The shoeboxes include toiletries, cotton socks, cuppa soups and dolly mixtures. In total, 34 boxes are winging their way to Afghanistan.

in co-ordination with our Armed Services.
