A number of members were unfortunately missing from the September meeting of Bamburgh WI, after the August break, as September seems a very popular month for a holiday get-away for retirees.
However, we were joined by a visitor staying in Bamburgh and she had chosen an excellent afternoon as Lorna Watkinson gave a clear and achievable demonstration of pottery painting.
Each member chose an item to paint to their individual designs and palettes and, as Lorna had organised the equipment required, each member was able to produce a commendable result to have glazed and fired and taken home at a later date.
During the business section of the meeting, members were reminded that the Bamburgh Village Show, held on the following Saturday, needed ‘all hands on board’ to make this annual event a great village success.
On September 17, 14 members from Bamburgh WI’s twin Shilbottle, have accepted an invitation to join Bamburgh for croquet, table tennis and table games after sharing a light lunch.
It is hoped many members will join in the afternoon of fun and games.
The winter quiz nights start again at 7.30pm in the Castle Inn (the middle) on Monday, September 29, followed the next day by the lunch club meeting at the Coach Inn Lesbury.
Members were asked to meet at the pavilion at 10am on October 16, to help complete the scarecrow for the competition at Heighley Gate.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, October 8, when Chris Phillips will demonstrate stick dressing. Visitors are very welcome to join us.
