Turning Japanese

Christine Hutchinson welcomed everyone to the meeting of Bamburgh WI on October 14, and business items were quickly discussed

Iris Crawford said she would be giving out the diaries and calendars, and read a letter from the National Board explaining why the subs would be going up.

County events coming up are “Our Time Music Hall” at Felton Village Hall, on November 30, and carol singing at Heighley Gate on December 22. We will be having a Christmas workshop on December 8, and hopefully will be producing magnificent table decorations.

Our speaker was Ann Ousby, who entertained us extremely well, describing her writing experiences. She told us how she started writing, the type of books she wrote, and how she got them published. We then had fun having a try at haiku, which is a short form of Japanese poetry.

She was thanked by Rosemary Robinson.

Our next meeting will be on November 11, which will be a Japanese afternoon.
