Miss Northumberland Laura Hickey is in the running to win a prestigious national beauty pageant, but she needs your support to help her.
The Wooler lovely has made it through to the grand final of Miss England, which starts this weekend.
As part of her quest to take the coveted title, the 22-year-old is facing a public vote – with the winner being fast-tracked to the final 15 round of the competition.
And she is urging people to support her, to help her realise dreams of winning the contest, as she proudly flies the flag for Northumberland.
“The voting is only open until Tuesday so I need as much support and as many votes as I can get,” she said.
Laura reached this stage of the competition after finishing in the top 15 at the semi-final in Leicestershire.
She wore a Northumberland flag-themed dress in one of the rounds, and she admits she is proud to be representing the county in Miss England.
“I love Northumberland. It is such a fantastic county and I want to raise the profile of the county as much as possible,” she said.
Laura will compete as one of 60 finalists in Miss England in a series of shows across the Midlands.
The overall winner will be crowned next week.
Laura, who also competed in Miss England last year, admits taking the title would be fantastic.
She said: “I don’t know what I would do with myself if I won.
“It would be brilliant. It would be overwhelming – especially as I would be representing Northumberland.”
But whatever happens, Laura admits she will just enjoy the experience.
She said: “I am really excited. I am really looking forward to it. I did it last year and I think it puts me in good stead and I know what to expect.
“But I will just enjoy it and give it my all.”
The ultimate winner of Miss England will represent the nation in the renowned Miss World competition later this year, among other things.
