CREATIVE youngsters have been rewarded for producing artwork of Royal proportions.

Thirteen children from Amble Links First School and Amble First School received commemorative china mugs after their Diamond Jubilee-themed posters were shortlisted by the public, after more than 60 creations from schoolchildren went on display in shops and the town’s library.

Former town mayor, Coun Leslie Bilboe, presented mugs to Ben Stevens, Haydn Lee, Amber Lewins, Leah Ayres and Shane Henderson from the Links First School, while newly-elected mayor Coun Ian Hinson handed the gifts to Abby Coulter, David Coulson, Liam Douglas, Hayden Crockett, Flynn Penrose, Sunny Singh, Jacob Poulter and Elliot Baxter from Amble First School.

Meanwhile, a quiz with an Amble theme was won by Pat Keen of Meadowburn.
