The Rotary Club of Amble and Warkworth held its biennial charity golf day at Foxton.

The event attracted 35 teams from throughout the North East and raised the magnificent sum of £5,000, which will be divided equally between The Great North Air Ambulance, SSAFA Forces Help (Northumberland) and HospiceCare North Northumberland.

The winners were the team representing Swalwell Cricket Club, with the Ryecroft Glenton Accountants Team from Newcastle in second, and Bilboe’s Bandits third. Bilboe’s Bandits were a team made up of friends of Rotarian Les Bilboe, from Amble.

Dick Wailes said: “We are most grateful to all those businesses and individuals who sponsored the event and to the teams who took part, but especially we are grateful to Alnmouth Golf Club at Foxton for granting us free use of the course and club house facilities, which enabled us to raise funds for these very worthy causes.”
