Cadets from Alnwick Detachment Northumbria Army Cadet Force have chosen to give up their Easter holidays for a community engagement task at Alnwick Castle.

A group of cadets under the direction of Captain Lawrence are restoring an artillery field gun that stands outside the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum within the castle.

The plan is to rub down, prime and then paint the gun.

The gun was ‘liberated’ by the 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers while on UN peace-keeping duties in Bosnia in 1995.
