On a mild Sunday evening in early June, the Rotary Club of Alnwick hosted a concert of magical music in St Paul’s Church.
The event, helping to mark the club’s 75th anniversary celebrations, involved the Chepstow Male Voice Choir.
The choir was supported by Jacqui Budge (a fine soprano, who just happens to be the president of the Inner Wheel in Berwick) with her accompanist, Mike Baglee.
She first captivated the audience with Ave Maria, and later with Somewhere from West Side Story.
But, without doubt, the stars of the show were the members of the choir. They were clearly meticulously rehearsed and after a fine rendition of some choral works by Bizet and Mozart there followed a medley of Tyneside river songs, which included The Keel Row and Dance To Thy Daddy.
