Print knockout competitions are always a popular feature of Alnwick and District Camera Club’s programme and this latest one was no exception.
Prints are displayed two at a time and the audience votes for the one they consider the best. This continues until all but four prints are eliminated and these are then pitted against each other for positions.
Although these are fun evenings with plenty of friendly banter, they are quite challenging for members of the audience who often have to decide between widely differing subjects. Matters were also made more difficult by the high quality of the entries so that many excellent pictures fell by the wayside.
At the end of the voting, fourth place was awarded to Doug Ross for A Colourful Read; third went to Gordon Charlton for Take a Break and second to Gerry Simpson for St Pancras Station. The overall winner was an outstanding composite image by John Thompson, entitled Trees in a Rock Landscape.
