PARTY PEOPLE: Like most WIs throughout the country, Alnmouth WI’s December meeting was party night and boy was it a good one.
The food, prepared by our ‘catering team’ (Ann Coin, Dawn Potter, Edith Cummings, Yvonne Farmer, Tess Allen, Celia Collinson, Jean Cullen, Pam Muggleton and Joan Davidson), was superb, as was the entertainer Ernie Coe.
He was his usual hilarious self. We even laughed at his old stories, as well as his neverending funny new ones – it’s just the way he tells ’em of course.
We had our usual mystery presents, then sang with great enthusiasm, if not skill, The 12 Days of Christmas and closed our evening traditionally singing Auld Lang Syne – it was a lovely evening enjoyed by all.
We didn’t quite escape Pam’s Matters Arising from the Minutes however, which she managed to squeeze in before everyone staggered home, reminding us our subscriptions were due in January (that got a few boos) and also that helpers were needed for our soup and pudding Winter Warmer Lunch, which is on Tuesday, January 10.
Our speaker for January is a representative of the Northumberland Theatre Company, which is a great start for 2012 and one we are looking forward to.
Best wishes for 2012.
