Amble Dental Practice has been recognised by the British Dental Association (BDA) as committed to providing the best possible care for its patients.
It is the 13th year that the surgery has been deemed to be meeting the requirements to be a BDA Good Practice member.
The High Street venue is one of only nine practices in Northumberland to be a BDA Good Practice Member.
As a member of BDA Good Practice, the surgery has made a number of commitments.
These include: To provide dental care of consistently good quality; to work with patients to provide care that meets their needs and wishes; and to make treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible. Other commitments include: To check for mouth cancer and tell patients what is found; to look after the general health and safety of our patients; to follow current infection-control standards; to keep skills and knowledge up to date; to monitor the quality of our service to identify opportunities for improvements.
As part of this, the team at Amble Dental Practice has worked hard to comply with more than 120 requirements.
Keldine Hunter, the practice manager, said: “It has been a lot of work, but everyone has found it worthwhile and we really do feel that we continually improve our service to patients.”
Duncan Thomas, the practice owner, added: “We involve all our patients in their treatment right from the start.
“We discuss the options available and give them all the information they need to help them decide which is best for them.
“They are given a written outline of the agreed treatment and are told the number of appointments they need and what it will cost. We make sure that there are no surprises.
“Patient waiting times are kept to a minimum and we aim to provide appointments that are convenient for the patient.
“Care is offered under NHS and private contract and the practice has a preventative approach to dental care and is an NHS prototype practice.”
Amble Dental Practice has a team of four dentists, two therapists and one hygienist, backed up by a support team of six qualified dental nurses, four receptionists and a practice manager.
