Air ambulance called to Holy Island

An elderly woman has been airlifted to hospital from Holy Island.

The lady, in her 70s, started suffering from chest pain whilst visited the island.

The Great North Air Ambulance was asked to attend at 3.20pm and it flew the woman to the Northumbria specialist emergency care hospital in Cramlington.

An air ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to Holy Island where a female patient had developed chest pain whilst visiting. She was flown to NSECH Hospital in Cramlington where she was stable on arrival.”
