Activities for toddlers in the summer

A host of activities will take place at Sure Start centres in Alnwick, Seahouses and Rothbury during the summer holiday.

While the usual baby and toddler groups do not take place during the six-week break, the children’s centres have put on a programme of events to keep mums and their little ones entertained throughout.

On Mondays during the break, except bank holidays, the Little Lions’ club will run from 1pm to 3pm at the Alnwick Children’s Centre with different activities each week.

This week sees fun in the sun at Alnwick Children’s Centre today from 10.30am to 11.30am and Seahouses Children’s Centre, within the fire station, from 2pm to 3pm and tomorrow at Rothbury First School from 10.30am to 11.30am.

There will be a selection of outdoor toys for children to play with and games in which they can take part.

Next week sees a summer trip to East Links Family Park on Wednesday. Tickets are £7 per person, contact 01665 600896 for more information and to book your place.

Next Thursday, August 8, will be stay and play at Alnwick from 10.30am and Seahouses from 2pm and at Rothbury on Friday, August 9, at 10.30am.

On Thursday, August 15, children are invited to take their favourite teddy along to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Alnwick from 10.30am and Seahouses from 2pm and at Rothbury on Friday, August 16.

There will be singing and stories and a picnic outside.

And for the final week of the school holidays there will be a beach-party theme.

It will take place at Alnwick on Thursday, August 22, from 10.30am and Seahouses from 2pm and at Rothbury on Friday, August 23, from 10.30am.

Sand and water play will be on offer as well as flag making and stone decorating.

All activities are for children aged five and under, but older siblings are welcome.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
