En garde ... Warkworth Castle will provide the mediaeval backdrop to the sounds of thrusting and parrying as part of an action-packed show later this month.
Local amateur enthusiasts will display their sword fencing skills and invite onlookers to take part during the event on Saturday, August 20.
The 145th Warkworth Show in the castle grounds will be bristling with activities during the day, from circus skills and an army climbing tower to a dog agility session, children’s fancy dress and the ever-popular 2.5km fun run.
The programme of family entertainment also includes a fun dog show, terrier racing and scurry, Alnwick Playhouse band, a story-telling tent, classic cars display and Northumbrian pipers.
In addition there will be the traditional fruit, vegetable and floral events; art, photography and craft displays and the ever-popular baking and cooking competitions.
There are hundreds of classes in which people can enter, many of which are aimed at children.
Anybody wishing to take part can find entry forms in the show schedule, which is available from Warkworth village shop, Gray’s, or online from www.warkworthshow.co.uk
The show opens to the public at 10am. It concludes with an auction at 4.50pm.
