The Highways Agency is planning the following roadworks in Northumberland over the next week – tomorrow until Sunday, April 5.

Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington: Junction improvement work. Improvements ongoing until mid April. Phases of night time lane closures and some carriageway closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works.

Alnwick: South Bridge refurbishment phase two – full closure southbound with all traffic running in contraflow on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. The A1068 below the bridge will operate under traffic signal control until August 2015.

Smeafield: Drainage work – traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 8am and 6pm until Tuesday, March 31.

Stannington: Footpath crossing work – lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am until Tuesday, March 31.

Warreners House: Investigation work – lane closures north and southbound between 8pm and 6am until Wednesday, April 1.

Morpeth: Site clearance work – lane closure north and southbound between 8am and 5pm until Wednesday, April 1.

Cheswick: Sign work – traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm on Tuesday, March 31.

Scremerston: Sign work – traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm on Wednesday, April 1.

Further south:

A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work. Various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.

A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work. There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017. Additionally there will be a full closure southbound between Junction 56 and Scotch Corner between 8pm and 6am. These closures will take place Monday, March 30, to Wednesday, April 1, and there will be diversions in place.

A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work. 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. Night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016. Additionally there will be a full closure northbound at Lobley Hill with a diversion in place. Between 8pm and 6am on Monday, March 30, and Wednesday, April 1.

A1M Junction 62 to 63, County Durham: Barrier work. 24/7 hardshoulder and lane 1 running with lane 2 being closed north and southbound. The works will take place until end of May.

A1M Junction 58, County Durham: Technology work. Lane closure north and southbound between 8pm and midnight on Wednesday, April 1.

A1 North Brunton, Newcastle Upon Tyne: Electrical work. Lane closure north and southbound between 8pm and 6am between Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1.

A1 North Brunton to Seaton Burn, Newcastle Upon Tyne: Survey work. Lane closure northbound between 8pm and 6am from Monday, March 30.
