A Belford business is planning to provide passing places along the Detchant road to make life easier for residents.
Horse-bedding manufacturer Bedmax is offering to install passing places along the road from the old A1 in a bid to alleviate residents’ concerns.
The stream of lorries along the narrow U34 road to the business at Greymare Farm has been blamed by neighbours for churning up grass verges and shaking cottages among other concerns.
The traffic was also causing anxiety to drivers faced by lorries reversing on to the road to allow each other to pass.
The company hopes to present its plans to Belford Parish Council later this month.
In the meantime, it has commissioned the installation of a kerb in front of one of the houses in Detchant to strengthen the road and improve the verge.
