A right royal party in the park

Have your say

DIAMOND Jubilee fever is set to hit Alnmouth, with special events planned in the village.

Fun for all the family, the festivities will take place on Monday, June 4, from 2pm, in the form of a Party in the Park.

Held in Pease Park, there will be free entertainment for youngsters, including kings and queens fancy dress for children up to nine-years-old, painting and crafts, egg and spoon and three-legged races and other activities.

A women’s jubilee hat competition, boules, coconut shy and a tug of war competition between teams from the local pubs will also take place.

A Women’s Institute afternoon tea will be held from 2.30pm to 5pm.

The celebrations will go into the evening, with a marquee, bring your own barbecue, a bar and live band entertainment from 8pm until late.

The Jubilee Beacon will also be lit.

An appeal has been made for a tug-of-war rope. It must be 100-feet-long and at least one to one-and-a-half inches thick. Contact Mary on 01665 830330 if you can help.
