THE soaring cost of heating oil has fuelled a campaign to set up clubs to drive the price down.
The Citizens Advice Bureau is encouraging residents to establish groups within communities to buy oil collectively in large amounts to save money.
Clubs can be of any size, although the larger the group the greater the savings and existing oil clubs across the country have saved an average of 10 per cent on fuel bills.
Alnwick and District Citizens Advice Bureau wants communally-spirited people who can spare a few hours each month to act as oil club co-ordinators for their communities. They would be in charge of setting up the oil club, recruiting members, taking orders on behalf of members and negotiating the best price for their community.
The Alnwick Citizens Advice Bureau will provide advice and assistance to co-ordinators and you can register your interest with the Citizens Advice Bureau at 01665 604136 or email your name, address and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
