RAIDERS from the North will be sailing into Amble next weekend, to set up camp for the twelfth annual Sea Fayre Festival.
The town will be ringing with the clash of steel, as bearded warriors create a living history village beside the shore, so that people can see what life was like during the Dark Ages.

As well as depictions of battles, storytelling and the chance t
o make Viking artefacts, young people will also be able to take part in designing their own shields and then take on the hairy Norsemen in a fight to the death.

Alongside the Viking Village, there will also be a Northumbrian crafts and food marquee where local chefs will hold cookery demonstrations.

The festival will also host local bands including The Poor Boys, and acoustic sessions to provide a fun easy going atmosphere.

The Sea Cadets will make an appearance once again and the North Tyneside Steel Band will be coming along on Sunday, between 11am and 1pm, to add a bit of Caribbean spice to the weekend

Amble's traditional trawler race will take place on the Saturday, at around 12pm, and is the only one in the region.

Amble Sea Fayre Festival runs on July 12 and 13, from 11am to 4.30pm, at Harbour Road, near the pier and beach.
