This is the moment that shamed Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton drives through a red light and along bus lanes - on his way to see his probation officer.
The 26-year-old, who has just come out of prison for assaulting a 16-year-old, was seen driving in his top-of-the-range Range Rover Sport along four bus lanes and past no fewer than 14 "No Car" signs to avoid heavy queues through Newcastle city centre.

The shamed star, who was today banned for six games and another six suspended by the Football Association for an attack on ex-Manchester City team mate Ousmane Dabo, was filmed from the front passenger seat of another vehicle.

Barton left Newcastle's training ground in Little Benton at 4.20pm on Wednesday and the film shows him disgracefully ghosting past other law-abiding drivers by using the lanes reserved for buses, vans, taxis and lorries.

After a rapid five-mile trip he arrived at the probation service office, emerging 35 minutes later after his appointment.

Police have said they may take action after seeing the film.

DCI Allan Brown, Newcastle Area Commander, said: "We are looking into the matter and if any offences have been committed we will investigate."
