TOURISM businesses in north Northumberland short-listed for regional awards will find out their fate later this month.
Six enterprises from the area have been named as finalists for the 2008 North East England Tourism Awards which reward the leading individuals, businesses and attractions that are contributing to the region's thriving tourism industry.

The Seafiel
d Caravan Park at Seahouses is short-listed in the caravan holiday park of the year category, Bamburgh Castle in the large visitor attraction, Ford & Etal Estates and Warkworth Castle in the small visitor attraction, the Barn at Beal in the Taste of North East England, and The Old School at Newton on the Moor in the tourism website.

The winners of the gold, silver and bronze awards will be revealed at an award ceremony at The Newcastle Marriott Hotel, Gosforth Park, on Tuesday, October 21.

Gold winners in a number of categories will automatically go on to represent North East England in the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence in the spring.

Geoff Hodgson, chairman of the North East Tourism Advisory Board, said: "Our region is home to some of the best tourism businesses in the UK and for some of them this will be the opportunity they need to put their business and North East England on the map."
