Tears of heartbreak at death crash site

Devastated relations and friends have today gathered at the tree where a teenager died in a car crash yesterday afternoon.
Peter Pringle, 17, of Sycamore Avenue, Alnwick, was killed when he lost control of his car red Vauxhall Corsa and collided with a tree just off the A697.

The accident happened at 5.20pm between the Bridge of Aln pub and Battle Bridge on the Lemmington Bank road between Whittingham and Alnwick.

Mourners, including many of his mates, have been arriving at the scene throughout the day to pay their respects.

A sea of floral tributes and photographs have been left.

One card, left by his mother, said: "WHY? Peter darling, we're gana miss you so, so much. You will always be with us, in our hearts. Love ya 4eva, mam, Lee xxx"

One of Peter's friends - Dave Sloan - left the message: "One of the best friends eva. Gunna be missed mate. Love u lots x Dave Sloan x"

Meanwhile, Newcastle United shirts have been pinned to the tree and signed, dedicating Peter's love for the Toon.

One message reads: "RIP lil cuz. Miss u loads. Love u. Bunny xxxx"

Amid emotional scenes, Peter's friends described him as "a great lad, who always had a smile on his face".

Amy Law said: "He was one in a million and meant everything to everyone."

Sophie O'brien added: "He was one of the good ones. He was a stunning lad and he had a cheeky grin. He was liked by everyone."

Another friend said: "He'd do anything for anybody. He was always up for a laugh.

"We'll never forget him."
