BE safe, be seen – that's the message for this year's National Road Safety Week.
A roadshow is visiting Alnwick today to raise awareness of the importance of staying visible on the roads during the dark winter months.
Alan Gibson, from Northumberland County Council's road safety team, said: "People of all ages are welcome to com
e and visit the roadshow.
"We want to encourage the wearing of high visibility clothing and we'll be offering advice on how to avoid danger on the roads.
"Groups of school children will also be invited along to learn about being seen and staying safe plus they will have the opportunity to speak to staff from the emergency services and our road safety team and ask questions about road safety.
"Road Safety Week compliments work already being undertaken by the county council to encourage walking and cycling for the school journey through the development of School Travel Plans. We believe that road safety education will give pupils the tools to travel to and from school in a more sustainable and safer way."
The roadshow, supported by the road safety team, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and Northumbria Police will be in the Market Place from 9am to 3.30pm.
