PLANS to expand busy Alnmouth Station car park have been backed by Liberal Democrat MEP Fiona Hall.
Ms Hall, from Whittingham, has written to the managing director of Northern Rail pointing out that the lack of parking is putting off potential train users.
She said: "It is great that rail services from Alnmouth are so well used.
"But the lack of parking is making it very difficult for train travellers, as well as inconveniencing neighbouring residents who find that rail users are having to park outside their homes.
"I have written to request details of the planned expansion of the car park and to urge Northern Rail to implement these plans as soon as possible."
As reported in the Gazette, residents and councillors have been lobbying for the expansion of the station's car park which is currently full to overflowing at certain times of day.
