A NOTORIOUS A1 blackspot caused another three-car crash last week, two days after calls for speed limit and safety camera improvements were shot down.
Police were called shortly after 1pm to the crash on the A1 southbound at the Guyzance and Acklington junction, which has claimed four lives since 2002.

The crash involved a Volkswagen Passat, Ford Focus and a Renault Laguna.
The driver of the Laguna was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital for minor back and neck injuries which were not thought to be life threatening.

Two days before the crash highways chiefs ruled that there had not been enough deaths on the road in separate accidents to warrant speed restrictions or cameras.

Safety measures at the junction are to be investigated with the possibility of putting an anti-skid surface on the road, widening the central reservation and staggering the junction.
