SCHOOLS in the Coquet Partnership are celebrating this week after they together produced the best Key Stage 3 pupil progress results in the North East.
Amble Middle School, Druridge Bay Middle School and Coquet High School emerged top of the class in one of the categories of the Key Stage 3 league tables published last week.
Coquet's results indicate a contextual value-added measure from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 of 101.5, which shows a pupil's progression while taking into account other social factors.
It was the highest of all of the high schools in the region.
Key Stage 3 is taught to pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9, so the work of feeder middle schools is vital to gaining good results.
Paul Allen, headteacher of Coquet High School, praised the work of staff at all three schools.
He said: "Children in the Coquet Partnership are getting a great education. Achieving such excellent results at Key Stage 3 is a credit to all teachers in the partnership and the hard-working pupils who attend our schools.
"Our Key Stage 3 value-added score put us near the top of all schools nationally and the top school in the North East.
"This is fantastic news for pupils, parents and staff."
The Duchess's High School in Alnwick achieved a value-added score of 100.5.
The league tables show how pupils aged around 14 are performing in English, maths, and science across the country.
Overall the Duchess's High School was the top performing school in north Northumberland, fifth in the county, Berwick Community High School was sixth and Coquet tenth.
Morpeth's King Edward VI School was top in Northumberland.
