A CARAVAN park near Bamburgh, which was at the centre of a row with residents, has been given a licence.
Budle Bay Caravan and Camping Site, at Waren Mill, had originally applied for a 24-hour entertainment and alcohol licence.

However, Berwick Borough Council's licensing sub-committee refused the application last July – to the delight of residents.

Dozens of people living near the site objected to the application because they said it would lead to late-night disorder, vandalism and spoil the tranquil area.

Applicants Red Ridge Residential Ltd and Ingoe Mill Ltd appealed the decision and a re-hearing was held in Berwick.

At the hearing, parties agreed a reduction in the hours – to sell alcohol for consumption in the site cafe from 11am to 11pm and sell alcohol for consumption off the premises from 11am to 10pm.

The revised bid was approved by the sub-committee.
