On the move
NORTHUMBRIA Police is getting on the move to drive down crime in some of Northumberland's more rural communities.
A new, purpose-built mobile police office is being used across the rural areas of Northumberland by neighbourhood policing teams, offering a place for people to get crime prevention information and discuss any concerns or issues they may have.
The office will also be used at large public events like agricultural shows.
Sergeant Mick Quinn said: "There is a widespread rural community in Northumberland and it's vital we maintain our links with the public.
"People who don't always get the opportunity to visit a police station, because of the distance they have to travel from their home, will have the chance to call in.
"This new vehicle will also allow officers to travel to outlying villages on specific dates, giving members of the public greater access to their Neighbourhood Policing Teams."
