A NEW housing allocation scheme is to be launched later this year to give housing tenants more choice about where they live.
Northumberland Homefinder will be launched by Northumberland County Council in September.

Homefinder is a new approach to the way properties are allocated and will replace the complicated "points system".

It will work with Wansbeck Homes, Homes
for Northumberland, Berwick Borough Housing, Milecastle Housing and Castle Morpeth Housing, with the aim of offering people who want to rent affordable housing, more choice over the property and area they would like to live in.

Coun Gordon Castle, ward member for Alnwick, said: "These are radical changes and will affect everybody who is looking for housing."

As part of the launch, Northumberland Homefinder will be running a series of roadshows to explain the new system.

Dates and venues are: Tuesday, July 21, Hadston Community Centre, 9.30am-12.30pm; Monday, July 27, Alnwick Council Chambers, 9.30am-6.30pm;Tuesday, July 28, Kennedy Road sheltered community room, Amble, 9.30am-12.30pm; Rodsley Court community room, Rothbury, 2.30pm-6.30pm; Thursday, August 13, Cheviot Centre, Wooler, 9.30am-12.30pm; Community Centre, Seahouses, 2.30pm-6.30pm.
