Morpeth residents evacuating

RESIDENTS in Morpeth's High Stanners have been evacuated after the Environment Agency issued a severe flood warning in the town.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said:"The Environment Agency has issued a warning to all residents and are evacuating High Stanners.

"These residents are being taken to the King Edward High School on Cottonwood Lane."

A temporary residence centre is being set up at Morpeth Town Hall and temporary transport is being arranged for evacuations.

Castle Morpeth Borough Council are handing out sandbags on a priority basis.
