THE Gazette would like to correct some inaccuracies in the report (Dec 3) of local authority funding for Alnwick Playhouse.
The council grant for The Maltings in 2008/9 was £117,280, not £125,000 as stated in the report, which is 2.73 times that of the Playhouse's £43,000, not three times as stated in the report.

When quoting ticket sales for The Maltings in 2008/9, 13,900 tickets for workshops and classes should have been included, bringing the total to 35,900 compared with 66,000 tickets at the Playhouse in the same period.

While we apologise for the inaccuracies, the point of the article remains the same – the Playhouse is sorely underfunded.
