A LACK of affordable housing is the number one priority for residents in Berwick borough.
That is according to the responses received by Berwick Borough Local Strategic Partnership when it consulted on a refreshed Community Plan.

Gerald Connor, chairman of the Health and Well-Being Sector Board, said: "People feel that it is essential for us to keep this at the fore as we move towards new local government arrangements.

"We need to make sure that the new council for the county of Northumberland recognises how very important affordable housing is for people in the north of the county and we need to encourage them to tackle this head on from the beginning of the new council's existence."

The board is to host a special meeting on affordable housing to allow the wider partnership, and members of the public, to consider the matter in more detail.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday in Bell View Resource Centre, West Street, Belford, starting at 10am.

Numbers at the meeting are restricted. Contact the BBLSP to book a place on 01289 301864, or email gs@berwick-upon-tweed.gov.uk
