AN exhibition of paintings and drawings is to go on display in memory of a Northumberland artist.
Work by Malcolm Gleghorn will be in the Bondgate Gallery at Alnwick Playhouse during August.
Malcolm spent many years teaching in Newcastle and Northumberland after his education at the Royal Grammar School, Sunderland College of Art and the Royal College of Art.
But after moving to Newton on the Moor in the 1970s he painted more or less full-time. He exhibited widely in Northumberland as well as carrying out many public commissions.
His first love was the Northumbrian coastal and country landscape in oils, but he was as much at home in his (often tiny) sketchbooks, working in ink and colour on the details of plants, birds, shells and stones, or indulging his love of colour and pattern in semi-abstract works.
The retrospective exhibition, organised by Malcolm's wife Rita and daughter Jacquie Arkle, runs from Saturday until August 28. It is open 10am to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
