Mourners packed into St Michael's Church in Alnwick to celebrate the life of the popular 17-year-old who was killed on Friday, July 3 when he lost control of his red Vauxhall Corsa and collided with a tree, off the A697, on the Lemmington Bank road between the Bridge of Aln pub and Battle Bridge.
He was later buried in the cemetery on South Road, the same cemetery as his close friend Sam Gattens, of Alnwick, who was killed in a car crash just 20 days before Peter.
In a special tribute to the Sycamore Avenue lad, many wore pink shirts, ties, ribbons and jewellery, to dedicate Peter's favourite colour.
His coffin, surrounded by yellow and white flowers, arrived in a Mercedes-Benz hearse, outside the church, at around 11.30am.
His family –including his mother Gillian Dodds and girlfriend Lauren Smith – followed by close friends, walked behind the coffin for the last few yards to the church.
One of Peter's best friends, Andrew Carr, helped carry his coffin into the church.
Inside, every seat was taken, while many had to stand.
Rev Rachel Squires, curate at the church, said: "A whole community has once again been shocked and truly saddened by this terrible accident. Our sympathies are with Lauren and all of Peter's family at this very sad time."
The hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful was then sung in memory of Peter's love for the great outdoors, especially pigeons.
And it was clear that Peter had touched the lives of so many people during his short life.
Cyrus Pattinson, one of Peter's many friends, paid a touching tribute to the teenager in a poem he had written specially.
He finished the heartwarming piece by saying: "I will never forget you Peter. Love you forever mate. Sweet dreams."
This was followed by a letter from Carla Heathcote, who broke down in tears during the tribute.
Within the emotional piece, she paid tribute to Peter's love of cars and pigeons.
She added: "Life will never be the same without you. Your spirit will always live on and in our hearts."
Peter's uncle, Paul Hoskins, read out thoughts on behalf of the family.
He said how Peter's girlfriend, Lauren, had transformed the teenager's life, and that his relationship with the 18-year-old hairdresser had made Peter so happy.
Mr Hoskins then read a heartwarming letter from Lauren, who described Peter as the love of her life and her soulmate.
She wrote: "I was the one for you and you were the one for me. I don't know how I am going to cope without you. You were the most loving person with the softest heart."
"You meant the world to me."
One of Peter's favourite songs, Eye of The Tiger, was played before the Duchess' Community High School choir gave a moving rendition of a Chinese proverb.
The service came to an emotional end, with Peter's coffin being carried out to the sound of another of his favourite songs.
