PROPOSALS are being put forward for Rothbury hospital to open for day-care sessions.
Coun Tony Sandford is hoping the hospital will provide patients who need long-term care with day-care activities.
If the plans go ahead it will also give carers a break.
Coun Sandford told members of Rothbury Parish Council: "By this time next month we will know if it is possible and how it will shape out."
He added: "It is an opportunity for people who care on a long-term basis to have an afternoon or morning off."
He said it would give patients an opportunity for social interaction.
