THE North Northumberland Hospice is holding a Hug for Hospice Care event to raise awareness and money.
The hospice wants people to join a massive public hug in Alnwick at 11am on Easter Saturday.
Chief executive Susan Bridle said: "There are still lots of local people who haven't heard of us and who don't know that we're here to help them.
"So we've decided to attract everyone's attention by staging a Huge Hug in the town centre.
"We want as many people as possible to put on a hospice T shirt and hug a friend, relative or neighbour to celebrate this wonderful local service.
"Hospices are all about palliative care. A hug is the simplest form of palliative care we can think of."
"We hope the sight of hundreds of huggers will get people to stop and ask questions about us. And it should raise a few smiles too."
To take part ring Katie Drummond on 01665 606515.
