THREE new townhouses will be built on the site of the former Happy Shopper, on the corner of Green Batt, in Alnwick.
David Taylor's plan for the dwellings was unanimously passed by Alnwick District Council's development control committee, which was glad to see the area finally being cleaned up.

Local councillor Gordon Castle said: "It's great to see another of Alnwick's eyesores disappearing.

"It has been a derelict site for some years now, and has detracted from the local environment."

Mr Taylor's scheme will work with and extend the existing structure to create three three-bedroom properties with living accommodation over three floors.
